When a remediation letter should wait one more settlement cycle

Closing a finding on the day the procedure changes feels decisive. It is also premature. Settlement controls prove themselves across a full cycle — including weekends, holidays, and the first high-volume day after the change.

The one-cycle rule

We decline follow-up testing until at least one complete settlement cycle has run under the new procedure. Teams that insist on same-week confirmation often reopen the finding a month later.

What counts as a cycle

For daily settlement rails, five consecutive banking days usually suffice. For weekly remittance corridors, wait for the next two corridor settlement dates.

How to phrase this to the board

Say that confirmation is scheduled after the control has operated under live volume, not that the auditor is delaying. Boards understand operational proof; they dislike unexplained silence.
